It is my privilege and pleasure to invite you to attend the 26th Annual Meeting & Conference of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in April, 2016 for the first time in almost 20 years.

The theme of the Conference, ‘Diverse Challenges, Global Solutions’, centres on the international flavor and global nature of business transactions, which has been the catalyst for the increasing prevalence of international norms and laws and the opening up of jurisdictions with respect to trade, business and the practice of law. In this regard, the Conference will explore the way in which deals are structured and issues anticipated and resolved in the light of different systems, cultures and laws in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

The timing of the Conference in 2016 also coincides with the Malaysian Government’s efforts to liberalise and globalise the legal services market, and will therefore present a tremendous opportunity for delegates.

Founded in the 1870s, Kuala Lumpur has grown into a city of historical, architectural, cultural, financial and economic significance. The Conference will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, next to the spectacular Petronas Twin Towers, and is expected to draw 1,000 delegates from around the world. I warmly welcome all of you to experience first-hand our renowned hospitality. Malaysia, as a melting pot of cultures and traditions, has much to offer in its diversity, wide-ranging tourist attractions and unrivalled local cuisine which promises an explosion of tastes, sights and smells.
